Modalities

Sometimes we need a variety of tools to heal.

For the treatment of a broad range of acute and chronic illness, and for preventive health care and optimal wellness, Integrative Health Care combines:

Acupuncture & Herbology: Utilizing a unique Japanese style diagnostic technique of palpation and reflex response to choose acupuncture points, the patient can immediately experience a reduction of pain, inflammation, and muscle tension thus restoring Qi and blood to the affected area and balance to the organ systems via the energy meridians. Gentle Japanese style Acupuncture utilizes fine sterile disposable needles to stimulate energy at specific acupuncture points, influencing blood flow, nerve impulses, and the neuro-hormonal response of organs and tissues.

Herbal formulas may be prescribed to enhance and extend the benefits of the acupuncture treatment. Chinese herbal formulas are unique in that they treat the pattern of illness presented by the patient, addressing both the underlying cause of the condition and its symptoms, and thus supporting the patient’s healing process from the source of the complaint.

Functional Medicine & Clinical Nutrition: Functional Medicine focuses on early intervention and clinical assessment of the biochemical-physiological cause of an illness using laboratory testing from specialty laboratories. Medical kits to sample saliva, urine, stool or blood are provided to the patient and instructions are reviewed individually in the office before the test kit is taken home or to a lab for sampling. The most popular tests evaluate adrenal fatigue, sex hormone levels, digestive function and ecosystem, food allergies, thyroid function, blood sugar levels, anemia, diabetes, and cardiovascular health.

Clinical Nutrition correlates a patient’s symptoms with laboratory findings to design a nutritional supplement protocol and diet to treat the cause of the illness. The body has an amazing capacity to heal itself if given the right nourishment!

Clinical Kinesiology: Kinesiology is a diagnostic technique utilizing neuromuscular reflexes by testing muscles to assess organ system imbalances, locate precise areas of inflammation and injury, and to essentially ask the body questions concerning the cause of imbalance and the influence the environment, diet, and the patient’s emotional life may have on the presentation of the condition or illness.

Neuro-Emotional Technique: The Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a type of kinesiology that can access the body’s physical memory of past emotional events and release these stored emotional responses for better health and mental-emotional well being. We experience emotions in response to virtually every situation we encounter, whether we are aware of these reactions or not, and this is quite healthy and natural. However, sometimes challenging experiences become stored as neuro emotional patterns held in the neuropeptides within the nervous system and create lingering stress on our mind-body system, contributing to physical complaints, emotional and mental difficulties, and unhealthy and repetitious life patterns. The Neuro Emotional Technique can effectively assess, unlock, and alleviate these internal stressors. It’s quite magical!

Structural Bodywork: My structural bodywork begins with doing a postural analysis using Applied Kinesiology to asses muscle strength or weakness, skeletal alignment, and balance. Gentle treatments may include acupuncture, massage, acupressure, trigger point therapy, Sacral-Occipital Technique, or Ortho-bionomy for pain relief from low back, hip, neck, and joint pain, arthritis, neuralgia, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, myofascial pain, or other neuromuscular conditions. I enjoy giving self help exercises like isometric or isotonic exercises or acupressure points to my patients to extend the healing process at home. I like this combining of techniques because it facilitates longer lasting results than any one technique alone for pain relief!

Sound Therapy: Sound Therapy is a non-needle acupuncture technique which utilizes specialized tuning forks and intervals of specific sound frequencies rather than needles to stimulate the same points and meridians we would using needles.
Sound Therapy is the modality of choice for children, elderly patients, and those who are very sensitive, and/or those who prefer not to use needles but want to experience all the benefits of acupuncture. Sound Therapy may also be used in conjunction with a regular acupuncture treatment, as it is very relaxing and calming, and can effectively treat sensitive points. It may also be used with Neuro-Emotional Technique for anxiety, depression, and sleep problems.
